Testing charges and validity for sprayers and plant protection equipment
Plant protection equipment is one of the few categories on this site priced and validated differently depending on how it's powered — manual/battery-operated units are treated separately from power-operated ones, at every stage from testing charge through report validity.
Testing charges
Manual/battery-operated plant protection equipment carries a testing charge of ₹69,732, exclusive of GST. Power-operated equipment is priced considerably higher, at ₹1,83,102 — reflecting the more extensive performance testing power-operated sprayers go through.
Report validity
The validity split carries through to report life as well: manual/battery-operated equipment gets a 5-year ICT validity, while tractor/engine-operated equipment gets a longer 7-year ICT validity — both followed by a 5-year Batch Test validity for each subsequent batch.
Sample size
Sample size for this category scales with unit cost: 20 units for machinery costing up to ₹35,000, 10 units for ₹35,000–₹1,00,000, and 5 units for anything costing ₹1,00,000 or more — which in practice means most manual sprayers fall into the larger sample-size bracket, while power-operated units typically cost enough to fall into the smaller one.
